Baseball Batting Practice Mesh Cage Collar Turf Protector Tarp

Baseball cage collar tarps protect the grass around home plate during batting practice. Both natural and artificial turf is highly prone to damage in this area, so baseball field tarps are an essential part of keeping your field game ready. This style of infield turf protector comes in two pieces that wrap around the batter’s box and extend out to the foul lines.

The images above display three standard sizes of cage collar turf protectors plus we also accept custom orders. These standard sizes are designed for use with a 26' home plate. Regardless of the size selected the tarps will have a 25’6” circle missing out of the center. The small size provides almost 9’ of coverage and is frequently used on program’s practice fields. With 11’9” of coverage around home plate plus 32’ of coverage down each foul line the medium size is our most popular design for high school and college teams. For maximum protection at a stadium select the large size which wraps a full 15’ around home plate.

Baseball turf protectors are constructed of an 8-ounce vinyl coated polyester windscreen mesh fabric. The mesh pattern is 20% open allowing water, air, and sunlight to pass through so the tarp can be left in place for hours without disrupting turf growth. To avoid batter distractions we highly recommend using either the navy blue or spruce green color options.

The tarp's perimeter is folded over creating a 2-ply hem. If you plan to secure the tarp using ground spikes, select the grommeted option which features #2 brass grommets every 3'-4' around the hem. For quicker setup select the chain weighted option which features a two-pound chain pocket sewn about every 4' around the hem. Either way the corners will feature a hand pull loop used to quickly stretch the tarp into position.
